As a child in war-torn Poland and as an exile with her family in Siberia, she developed a deep commitment to helping others. As a nationally successful clothing designer and business woman, she has dedicated her life to supporting social services for women, children and the homeless through the Rena Rowan Foundation and she also founded the Rena Rowan Breast Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center.
