A strong advocate on behalf of quality education for all children, she has championed literacy through teacher training, mentoring, and motivational programs throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and the state. She has been both a professional and volunteer leader in these efforts as an educator, executive director of Philadelphia Reads, board chair of the Free Library of Philadelphia and as an active member of many other education initiatives.
