Under her dynamic leadership as President, Chatham College instituted pioneering programs in women's education and the college enjoyed major enrollment and fundraising growth. She received several honorary degrees for her visionary leadership on behalf of secondary education and also served on many civic boards, including University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Pittsburgh Symphony and World Affairs Council.
